Employee time tracking software that fills itself in
Day Off is employee time tracking software with two modes: a start and stop timer for tasks, and clock in and clock out for attendance. Employees punch in, the timesheet writes itself, and you review and export the hours.

One-click timer
Starts in a tap and becomes a timesheet entry automatically.
Projects & tasks
Every entry tagged, so timesheets break down by client and task.
Clock in & out
A digital punch card: employees punch in and punch out, no paper logs.
Leave included
Approved time off lands on the timesheet beside tracked hours.
Time tracking your team will actually keep up to date
Good employee time tracking software stays out of the way. Hours arrive from a timer or a clock-in, so managers get complete timesheets without chasing anyone at the end of the week.
Automatic timesheets from a one-click timer
Type what you’re working on and hit start. The timer counts up in real time and stays visible as you move around the app, then drops straight onto the timesheet when you stop it.
- No setup before the first timesheet entry
- Task tracking mode or clock in / clock out mode
- The timer stays visible as you move around the app
Timesheets broken down by client, project and task
Tie every session to a project and a task, so the timesheet answers “how much time went into this client?” at a glance instead of at the end of the month.
- Projects, tasks and clients
- Tasks nested inside each project
- Summary and detailed reports per project and person
Editable timesheets, ready for payroll and invoicing
Every session lands in a daily timesheet with description, project, start and end time and duration, grouped by day with a running total. Left a timer on over lunch? Fix the time in place.
- Edit timesheet entries inline
- Flag entries billable in one click
- Export to Excel or print for payroll
Clock in and clock out with a digital punch card
In clock in / clock out mode, employees punch in when they start their day and punch out when they finish, replacing paper timesheets and manual punch cards. The attendance review screen compares scheduled hours against actual clock-in and clock-out times for the whole team.
- Late arrivals, early departures and breaks
- Net working hours, overtime and attendance status
- Filter by employee, team, location or date range
Timesheets measured against each work schedule
Day Off supports four schedule types: fixed days, fixed hours, flexible hours and rotating shifts. Every timesheet is measured against that person’s own schedule, so overtime and short days stand out.
- Fixed days, fixed hours, flexible hours or rotating shifts
- Split one day into separate working periods
- Different schedules per team and location

Agencies & client work
Billable timesheets by client and project, ready to hand to finance at the end of the month.

- Hours per client and task
- Edit entries before invoicing
Hourly & shift teams
Punch in and punch out against fixed or rotating shifts, with an attendance sheet ready for review.

HR & managers
Timesheets, attendance and time off in one place, so planning and payroll start from the same numbers.
- Leave and timesheets in one view
- Summary and detailed reports
- Export to Excel or print
Your PTO tracker is already your time tracker
Day Off started with leave management. The time tracker sits on top of it, so approved time off and public holidays appear on the same attendance sheet as clocked hours. No second tool, no exporting between systems.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Day Off time tracking cost?
Day Off employee time tracking software is part of the Pro + Time Tracker plan at $3 per user per month, with a $30 monthly minimum and 17% off when billed annually. There is a free trial that needs no credit card, and you can cancel any time. The free forever plan covers leave management for up to 10 employees but does not include the Time Tracker.
What is the difference between task tracking and clock in / clock out?
They are two modes. Task tracking logs time against projects, tasks and clients with a start and stop timer, which suits client and billable work. Clock in / clock out works as a digital time clock: employees punch in and punch out, and those times become the attendance record. It suits hourly and shift teams. Both modes are included with the Time Tracker.
How do employees fill in their timesheets?
They don’t fill them in by hand. Starting the timer or clocking in creates the entry, and the daily log builds itself with the description, project, exact start and end times and total duration. If a timer was left running or stopped early, the entry can be corrected afterwards.
Can I export timesheets and attendance for payroll?
Yes. Attendance data can be exported to Excel or printed directly from the attendance review page, after filtering by employee, team, location and date range. The Time Tracker plan also includes summary and detailed reports.
Does it work with our leave policies and work schedules?
Yes. Time tracking runs on the same platform as your leave policies, holidays and locations, so approved time off appears alongside tracked hours. Day Off supports four schedule types: fixed days, fixed hours, flexible hours and rotating shifts.
