The Six Time Tracker Permissions

Each permission group has six time tracker permissions. Set each one to Allow or Deny:

  • Time tracker: track time on tasks and log time entries, and view, start, stop, and manage your own time records. It also gives access to Timesheets, to edit, submit, approve or reject, and undo timesheets.
  • Projects and tasks: view the projects you’re assigned to and manage the tasks in them: create, edit, delete, and finish tasks, and assign people to them.
  • Manage projects: create, edit, activate, deactivate, and delete projects, and manage their members. Without it, people only see the active projects they’re assigned to, read-only.
  • Time tracker settings: manage the time tracker configuration and clients.
  • Time tracker reports: view and export time tracking reports across the company.
  • Attendance review: view and export the attendance review report. Instead of Allow, you choose how much of the company it covers: All Company, a Location, a Team, or Subordinates.

How to Set Them

  • Go to Settings & integrations > Security > Permissions.
  • Click Add permission group, or open the permission group you want to change.
  • Scroll to the time tracker permissions.
  • Choose Allow or Deny for each one.
  • Click Save.

Then assign the permission group to the right people from their profile in People > Employees.

Common Setups

  • Employees: allow Time tracker only.
  • Team leads: allow Time tracker and Projects and tasks, and set Attendance review to Team or Subordinates.
  • Project managers: also allow Manage projects.
  • Finance or payroll: allow Time tracker reports, and set Attendance review to All Company.
