Why bother adding a client

Clients in Day Off let you organize your projects by who they’re being done for. On the Clients page you can see, for every client, how many projects are linked to them (active vs. inactive), along with a default currency and hourly rate. This is especially useful if you bill different customers in different currencies or at different rates, or if you simply want your reports and projects grouped by client rather than scattered as standalone projects. Once a client exists, you can attach projects to it and everything tied to that client becomes easier to track and report on together.

Step 1: Open Clients settings

In the left-hand menu, click “Settings” under “Time tracking,” then click the “Clients” card, described as the place to “add and manage your clients, set currencies, hourly rates, and track their associated projects.”

Step 2: Click “Add new”

On the Clients page, click the pink “+ Add new” button in the top right corner. This opens the “Add new client” dialog.

Step 3: Fill in the client details

Type the client’s name in the “Client name” field. Choose the appropriate “Currency” from the dropdown (it defaults to EGP – Egyptian Pound, but you can pick any currency your client is billed in). Optionally enter an “Hourly rate” for that client, which can be used for billing calculations against time logged on their projects.

Step 4: Save

Click the pink “Save” button to create the client. It will then appear in your Clients list, where you can see its status (Active/Inactive) and how many projects are linked to it, and you’ll be able to select this client when creating or editing a project going forward.
