Day Off offers two different ways for your team to log their working hours, and as an admin you choose which one applies company-wide.

Clock in / Clock out

This mode is described as “simple and fast, no task details required.” Employees just start and stop a clock to mark their working hours, without linking that time to any particular project or task. It’s best suited for teams that only need to know when someone worked, not what they worked on.

Task tracker

This mode lets employees “log time against specific tasks and projects.” Instead of a plain clock, employees pick a project (and optionally a task) before starting the timer, so every logged session is tied to a piece of work. This gives you more detailed reporting, since you can see time broken down by project, task, and employee.

Where to manage this setting

Go to “Time tracking” in the left-hand menu, click “Settings,” then open the “General” card. This opens the “Set up Time tracking” screen, where the two modes are shown side by side with a checkmark on whichever one is currently active. Selecting the other option and clicking the “Continue with…” button switches the whole company over immediately. A note on that screen confirms that “this setting applies to all members” of your company, so there’s no need to configure it per employee, and you can always come back to this same screen later to switch again.
