Tasks in Day Off help you organize and track work under specific projects. Once created, a task becomes selectable when logging time in the Tracker, so it’s easy to see how much time has been spent on each piece of work. Employees can add tasks if their role has the Projects and tasks permission. If you can’t see the option, ask your admin.
Step 1: Open Projects and tasks
In the left-hand menu, expand Time and click Projects and tasks. Then click the project you want to open its page.
You only see the projects you’re assigned to.
Step 2: Open the Tasks tab
On the project page, open the Tasks tab. It lists the project’s tasks with their assignee, estimate, and time spent.
Step 3: Click “Add task”
Click Add task. If the project has no tasks yet, click Add first task. This opens the Add new task window.
Step 4: Fill in the task details
- Task name: a clear, short name that teammates will recognize.
- Assignee: the person working on the task (optional).
- Estimate (Hrs): how many hours you expect the task to take (optional).
Step 5: Save
Click Save. The task appears in the project’s Tasks tab and in the Select task dropdown in the Tracker when that project is chosen.
You can also add a task on the spot from the Tracker: choose the project, open Select task, and click + Add task.
Quick Tips
- Search the task list first, so you don’t create a duplicate.
- Use a short, specific name.
- Add an estimate when you can, so you can compare it with the time you actually track.
